Cricut Crafts for Christmas - Step by Step Video

You all know I love my Cricut machines. They are perfect for creating all kinds of things, and I especially love to use them during the holiday season for crafts and decor. In this post, I’m going to share how I used my Cricut Joy Xtra to make my Christmas tablescape merry and bright with some duped Dollarama glassware and napkins to match. You don’t need to spend a tonne of money to get the Christmas table look you want, and I’m going to show you how to do it.

H&M Home Dupe: DIY Starry Glassware with Cricut

The first Cricut craft we are going to talk about is brought to you by my trip to H&M Home to do some holiday inspiration shopping. I found a beautiful new line of glassware that was covered in gold stars. I loved everything about it and I wanted to buy it right then and there, but it was very expensive. I decided that with my Cricut and some Dollarama glassware, I could make something very similar instead!

Getting started in Cricut Design Space

The first thing I did was set up my Cricut Design Space for this project. This FREE app is my go-to when I’m planning Cricut creations, and it came through for me this as always! I searched their vast library of images for “star” and found the exact one I wanted.

I brought it into Design Space, duplicated it a bunch of times, and clicked “Make It”.

Creating the final product

Once my Cricut Joy Xtra had printed my stars, I put the piece of vinyl on my sticky Cricut mat to hold it down and weeded the stars out from the rest of the vinyl.

As I weeded each star, I stuck it onto a piece of glassware wherever I thought it looked good. I put quite a few stars of varying sizes on each piece.

In no time at all I had star-ified all of the Dollarama pieces and created a completely transformed set of gorgeous Christmas-y glassware. I love how easy this dupe was and how beautifully it turned out!

Custom Napkins: Gingerbread House Charm with Cricut

For my next Cricut craft, I wanted to create some napkins that either matched or aligned with my new beautiful glassware. I clicked around on Design Space looking for inspiration and decided to go with some cute little gingerbread houses with a few of the stars from the glassware project. I knew from the beginning that this craft was going to be something special!

Customizing with Cricut Design Space

I loved the look of the gingerbread houses but I didn’t love the colours. I decided to make some changes to match my kitchen aesthetic and the rest of my holiday decor.

I made the gingerbread houses a beautiful burgundy with mustard yellow trim and I made the stars the same mustard yellow.

I set an invisible offset border around each house + star design to make them easier to cut and weed. Then I replicated the design a few times and hit “Make It.”

Cricut makes a Printable Iron-On for Light Fabrics, and it was perfect for this project.

I loaded a sheet of this Printable Iron-On into my colour printer and printed it through Design App.

Once it was printed, I put the sheet of paper material onto my Cricut Joy Xtra light grip mat and used my Cricut Joy Xtra to cut out each design, following the prompts given to me in Design Space. This app really holds your hand and walks you through the process so you do everything right, the first time!

Bringing the vision to life

Now, it was time to combine my design with my napkins! To make sure I placed the gingerbread houses correctly, I first folded the napkins the way I planned to present them on the table and marked the spot I wanted the gingerbread houses to appear with painter’s tape.

Then, I unfolded the napkin and used my Easy Press Mini to iron the taped-off spot so it was smooth and ready.

Next, I carefully weeded my gingerbread design off the paper and placed it where I wanted it to go on the napkin.

I put the napkin on top of my Heat Press mat and put the recommended wax sheet over top of the design. Then I used my Easy Press Mini to make my design part of the fabric. (I used the heat guide timeline provided by Design Space. Your own project might take more or less time than mine depending on its size and other factors.)

Voila! Gingerbread house napkins that matched my decor perfectly! All I had to do was repeat this process seven more times for the entire matching set. I am so happy with how my napkins turned out and how well they complement my new starry glassware too. A definite Cricut craft win for the holiday season!

Both of these Cricut projects take my Christmas tablescape game to the next level, and I cannot wait for my family and friends to see what I’ve been up to. For just a few dollars I was able to dupe and recreate some gorgeous table decor that would have cost so much more in a store. Plus, I got the satisfaction of making something myself, which I always love to do.

What kind of glassware or napkin creation will you make to match your own style? I cannot wait to see! Tag me @diydanie or leave a message in the comments.
