Decorating for Fall on a Budget + DIY Painted Eucalyptus

If you’ve been following along with my fall DIY series, you’ll be excited to hear that we have reached the final reveal stage! In this segment I want to show you some finishing touches I added to my DIY creations and how I styled my display. I can’t wait to show you everything!

Eucalyptus Leaves get a Fall Makeover

The last little mini-DIY I did involved a set of faux eucalyptus leaves I had laying around. They were left over from another set of materials and instead of throwing them away, I decided to make them fall-inspired to match my inspiration pic (always, always go back to your inspiration pic, you guys).

I took the yellow ochre paint I had used for the pear DIY and a small craft paint brush and I painted each and every leaf yellow, including the ones that had fallen off the branches. I LOVE the bright fall look I achieved with just a little time and effort!

Thrifted Goodies to Make my Display Complete

Just to make sure we are all up to speed, remember that I have DIYed quite a few thrifted items to put in my fall table display! These items include:

In order to make my thrifted display complete, I picked up a few other goodies that matched the vibe I was going for. Here’s what I found to make my mood board dreams come true:

  • Two beautiful solid wooden bowls

  • A large amber bottle with a candle

  • A tarnished metal canister with black-detailed lid

  • A wicker decorative pumpkin

  • A black candle

  • A wreath to take apart for its faux white pumpkins and flowers

  • Wooden pinecones and faux apples (that came with other packages I used for my DIYs)

The Final Reveal

Once I had my thrifted goodies and my DIY projects all in one place, it was time to style them!

I already had a tabletop that I wanted to use for the display. I kept the lamp and removed everything else that had been sitting there, and then I went to work styling. The wooden bead garland looks so beautiful spilling out of my solid wood thrifted bowl. The pears and leaves brought such a gorgeous golden orange natural element that almost took my breath away. The chalkboard frames anchored the whole scene perfectly, and all the other black and metal and wood accents came together to create the exact look I wanted in a really cohesive way.

I would say that 95% of the items on this table are thrifted or secondhand, and I just love that! What do you guys think? Would you make any of these DIYs for your fall decor? Let me know in the comments!
